What is sleep apnoea?
Sleep apnoea means pauses in breathing during the night.
In this sleep-related breathing disorder, the throat muscles and the tongue go slack and block the airways. To prevent a choking attack, the brain forces you to wake up and gasp for air, which is also the cause of the snoring and leads to unrefreshing sleep.
