Braces for teenagers and young people
You’d love a beautiful, perfect smile, but wires and metal in your mouth are out of the question for you, if only for aesthetic reasons? You want to finally enjoy your youth without a care and keep your head free for the things that really matter?

Thanks to the latest high-tech orthodontics, braces are becoming less and less visible and can therefore be worn more and more carefree in everyday life – classic braces with metal brackets are now a thing of the past!
Get your self-confidence back with the unique invisible braces technology Invisalign Teen – because your smile is the most important thing you can wear!
What is Invisalign Teen?
Invisalign Teen is an almost invisible, innovative orthodontic method that uses removable, transparent plastic trays (aligners) to correct even severe and complicated misalignments of the teeth and jaws.
Your smile is as unique as you are – which is why, for your orthodontic treatment, clear aligners are custom-made specifically for your individual needs. And best of all: they are transparent and so wafer-thin that you won’t feel them while you’re wearing them.
How does Invisalign Teen differ from classic braces?
Thanks to this revolutionary braces technology, the invisible, removable brace is barely visible when worn and is every bit as good as classic fixed braces. This means you can carry on doing the activities you enjoy, but without any restrictions or irritation from metal and wires in your mouth. It also makes caring for your teeth easier, so you can brush your teeth as usual and use dental floss too. This improves your dental health overall.
How do invisible braces work?
With this revolutionary braces technology, you can see in advance what your desired result will look like once treatment is complete. At your initial consultation, we take a 3D scan of your teeth and you can see straight away what your teeth will look like after treatment. With Invisalign treatment, you receive a series of custom-made aligners, tailored specifically to your course of treatment, which are transparent, removable and almost invisible.
How long and how often should the invisible aligners be worn?
This is where your cooperation and motivation count! The smile you want is a team effort and we’re on your team – so the more often you wear your aligners, the faster you’ll get to your dream smile.
It takes a fair amount of discipline to stick to the recommended wearing time of 22 h. But because the aligners are invisible, most teens find it easy anyway. The aligners are only taken out for eating and for caring for your teeth.
Invisalign Teen only works if the aligners are worn for at least 20 to 22 hours a day. That’s why we check the progress of your tooth movement at regular intervals. Your aligners are tailored specifically to your needs and come with special features:
- a blue colour indicator dot on the aligner that shows the optimal wearing time – so there’s no cheating! Over time the dot slowly fades, so that together we can
- better assess the wearing time
- your aligners are specially designed so that erupting canines and front and back molars are not blocked as they come through
What happens if an invisible aligner gets lost?
If your aligners mysteriously go missing or you misplace them, we can order new aligners at any time.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
As every Invisalign patient is different, treatment times can vary. As a rule, treatment takes between 9 and 18 months. In most cases, check-ups with us are only needed every 6–8 weeks.
For smaller corrections, treatment takes 6 months on average and can be completed in less than 3 months if you change your aligners every week.
Which misalignments can invisible braces be used for?
Whether overjet, crossbite or crowding: with the unique Invisalign system, state-of-the-art technology and elaborate computer-based jaw and 3D tooth models make it possible to treat even complex misalignments effectively and efficiently. Here you’ll find an overview of possible misalignments.

Possible misalignments
The malocclusions listed below can occur on their own or in combination with one another. Invisalign treatment has proven clinically effective in treating malocclusions and can be used for simple to complicated tooth corrections.
Gaps between the teeth (spacing)
Missing teeth and gaps between the teeth often significantly affect not only appearance, but also the function of the teeth and the bite.
Possible consequences:
- Gum pockets
- Receding gums
- Teeth shifting
- functional problems (problems biting into food)
Crossbite
A crossbite means that one or more upper back teeth bite on the inside of the lower back teeth. A crossbite can occur on one side or on both sides.
Possible consequences:
- Gum disease
- Bone loss
- Tooth abrasion
- asymmetrical face
- jaw joint (TMJ) problems
Open bite
With an open bite, the front teeth of the upper and lower jaw do not touch each other even when the teeth are closed together. An open bite can also occur at the sides. In extreme forms, only the very back molars touch when biting.
Possible consequences:
- Missing and/or painful biting and chewing function
- Jaw joint problems
- Wear of the teeth
- temporomandibular disorder (TMD)
- negative effects on speech
- visible change in the shape of the face due to an "elongation" of the lower jaw
Underbite (forward position of the lower jaw)
An underbite can impair the normal function of the incisors or molars.
Possible consequences:
- Tooth wear
- painful jaw and joint problems
- impaired facial aesthetics
Is Invisalign Teen right for me?
With Invisalign Teen, even complex orthodontic corrections are possible. Fixed braces only have to be chosen if the correction of the tooth position could not be carried out successfully with the Invisalign method because of its limited application of force (more information on free braces, covered by Austrian public health insurance), if you weren’t disciplined and motivated enough to wear the aligners consistently, or if cost reasons speak against treatment. At our practice, we’re happy to advise you together with your parents on which option is right for you! Orthodontic correction shouldn’t hold you back and should, of course, fit in with your active lifestyle.

Who gets free braces?
At our practice, we carry out orthodontic treatment every day with great success. Our competent team is happy to advise you together with your parents on whether free braces are an option for you.
To qualify for free braces, you must have a misalignment of grade 4 or 5 on the five-point scale of the international IOTN (Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need) classification. If the misalignment is in category 4 or 5, no further approval from the health insurance fund is required.
The braces are paid for until, on average, 70 per cent of the misalignment has been corrected. However, the health insurance fund only pays for fixed braces with silver brackets. Invisible braces, which we offer at our practice, are not covered by this funding.
