Treatment process for adults

Treatment with fixed braces for adults is similar to that for younger patients, but is adapted to the specific needs of adults.

1.   Initial consultation and diagnosis: At a first appointment we discuss your wishes and carry out a comprehensive examination.

2.   Preparing the records and the treatment plan: Based on X-rays, photos and a 3D scan of your teeth, we draw up an individual treatment plan that is tailored to your misalignment.

3.   Fitting the braces: The brackets are attached to the teeth and the archwires are inserted to move the teeth gently into the desired position.

4.   Regular check-ups: Check-up appointments take place every 8 weeks, at which progress is checked and adjustments are made.

5.   Completing treatment: After successful correction, the braces are removed and a retainer is fitted to stabilise the result in the long term.

Retention: preserving the results in the long term

After treatment with fixed braces, it is important to stabilise the result in the long term. A retainer is used for this, which holds the teeth in their new position and prevents them from shifting again.

What retention methods are there?

• Fixed retainer: A thin wire that is attached to the inside of the front teeth.
• Removable retainer: A clear plastic tray that is worn at night to stabilise the result.
