What is disc displacement?
Disc displacements are unphysiological positions of the articular disc in relation to the condyle – partial or total, with or without reduction, in maximum intercuspation or during excursive movements of the lower jaw.
A typical cause is trauma, which can lead to the disc tearing away and to transverse disc displacement.
